Frequently Asked Question
My printer is showing a paper jam, but I cannot see any paper. What should I do?
Last Updated 3 days ago
A paper-jam warning may occur when paper is stuck inside the printer, a small paper fragment remains in the paper path, or a sensor detects a feed problem.
Try these steps:
- Follow the printer's on-screen instructions or consult the manufacturer's manual.
- Remove the paper from the input tray and check that it is not folded, damp, or damaged.
- If instructed by the manufacturer, open the designated access panels and carefully remove visible jammed paper in the recommended direction.
- Check for small paper fragments in accessible areas.
- Reload the paper correctly and ensure that the paper guides are properly adjusted.
- Close all panels securely and restart the printer if the manual recommends it.
Safety: Laser printers may contain hot components. Allow the printer to cool as directed by the manufacturer. Never force a stuck component or reach into inaccessible mechanisms.
If the warning continues after the visible paper has been removed, contact Technical Support for assistance.
