Frequently Asked Question
My computer is overheating or its fan is unusually loud. What should I do?
Last Updated 3 days ago
Excessive heat or unusual fan noise may indicate restricted airflow, heavy system activity, dust buildup, or a hardware problem.
Try the following:
- Place the computer on a stable surface with adequate ventilation.
- Keep air vents clear of walls, papers, fabric, and other obstructions.
- For laptops, avoid using the device on beds, pillows, or other soft surfaces that block ventilation.
- Close applications that are placing unusually high demands on the system.
- Shut down the computer if it becomes excessively hot, repeatedly shuts down unexpectedly, or produces a burning smell.
Do not open the power supply or attempt internal repairs unless you are appropriately qualified.
